Central Research Institute (CRI) is located in Kasauli. The institute is actually a pasture institute of India, which was established in 1904, as an institute working in the field of immunology and virological research. The institute was established under the leadership and supervision of The first director Sir David Semple. CRI works as a collaborating center of WHO and as an immune-biological laboratory manufacturing vaccines for measles and polio.

Kasauli is a cantonment and a small town, located in the Solan district, Himachal Pradesh. The cantonment was established by the British Empire in the year 1842, to mark as the colonial hill station.
